There are things that have taken on gender, like colors (i.e. pink for girls, blue for boys). However, I think the more important issue here is the healthy overall identity formation and how to help your kids have that. I think it's important that parents teach their kids how to ask the right questions, how to think critically, and not accept everything given to them. The article mentioned that the parents were not sharing the sex of their baby as a "tribute to freedom," which does seem like alot of pressure for a baby's experience to represent. He/she is probably going to be picking up on the gender identity of the parents, so is it truly a test of a genderless identity?

Response to Alexandra's post: "Is gender neutrality the best option?"
You raise some pertinent questions concerning this whole idea of being gender neutral. I agree with the man in the news feature who talked about how the parents are in fact pushing an identity on their child by doing this whole thing of being gender neutral. They are also trying to "unschool" the children, which may teach them about mommy and daddy's opinions and beliefs, but their kids are going to be out in the world someday. The kids are going to hit puberty someday for that matter.
